SRINAGAR: At least 13 passengers were killed and 13 injured when a mini bus packed with passengers lost control and skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the mountainous Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
So far, 13 persons are confirmed dead and 13 others injured,” Kishtwar’s police chief Rajinder Gupta, who is leading the rescue operation, told. The bus was carrying over 30 passengers, Mr Gupta said, adding that the rescue operation was launched immediately after the accident. The minibus was on its way to Kishtwar from the Keshwan area when the fatal accident happened.
Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana said the district administration was making efforts to airlift eight critically-injured passengers to Jammu. Local people were the first responders to the early morning accident before the police and the army were rushed to the spot to launch rescue operations he further added.
