Assam: Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) President Dwipen Pathak and two other party leaders resigned today. TMC Chief in Assam had a differnent view on recent NRC controversy with his party President. Pathak, a former MLA from Hajo, told reporters here that he had apprised the party leaders of the “ground realities” in Assam.
Putting aside the party’s claims that the NRC aims to drive away the Bengali-speaking and Biharis and turn them into refugees, Pathak told THE media. Expressing dissatisfaction over the TMC’s protests against the Centre and Assam government’s stand on the NRC draft, Pathak said doing so could disrupt the law and order situation in the state.
Pathak’s resignation came within hours of a TMC delegation arriving at the Silchar airport in the Bengali-dominated Barak valley. Two more TMC members Pradip Pachani of Sibsagar and Diganta Saikia of Golaghat too resigned followed by their state head.
