CWG 2018: Shreyasi Singh clinches gold in shooting

Australia: Shreyasi Singh wins gold medal for India in Women’s Double Trap on Wednesday. She shot 96 in the finals and beat Australia’s Emma Cox 2 shots to 1 in the shoot-off at Belmont Shooting Center. Shreyasi’s grandfather and father served in the National Rifle Association of India as its president, represented the country in two events at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, Delhi but failed to win a single medal.

Varsha Varman finished in the 4th position with 86.

On Day 7, Jitu Rai who earlier clinched gold in 10m air pistol failed to add another for India after he finished in the 8th position.

Om Mitharval who had earlier won a bronze in 10m air pistol won another bronze after he finished in the third position in the event.

Now, it will be Ankur Mittal who climbed to the top position in World Rankings last year who will compete in Men’s Double Trap and will look to continue his form with a podium finish. Ashab Mohd will also look to win a medal in the same event.
