BHUBANESWAR: Coastal areas of Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh coast. “Titli is very likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours,triggering rainfall in several parts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
In its latest release, the IMD said that Titli over west central Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards with a speed of about 15 kmph during past six hours, and has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm.
The weather office said the cyclonic storm is likely to make a landfall between Gopalpur in Odisha and Kalingapatanam in Andhra Pradesh early on Thursday morning at a wind speed gusting up to 165 kilometres per hour.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over coastal Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours, according to the IMD. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who took stock of the situation, asked the collectors of Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Kendrapara and Jagtsinghpur districts to make necessary arrangements to shift people living in low-lying areas
