Rajasthan: A high-speed dust storm on wreaked havoc in Bharatpur, Alwar and Dholpur districts, killing at least 24 and injured more than 100 people.
The storm left a trail of destruction, uprooting trees and electricity poles. Major destruction is caused in Alwar where more than 100 trees were uprooted, many of which fell on stationary vehicles and snapped electricity cables. The power distribution company switched off electricity to prevent further damage.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje tweeted that she has directed ministers to monitor relief work in the affected districts and asked officials to restore the utilities.
The state government rushed the State Disaster Relief Force to the affected districts and issued an alert. Private schools in Alwar city are closed on Thursday.
