Karnataka Assembly polls: Congress workers vandalise party office over ticket distribution

Mandya: Angry over ticket distribution for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Election Congress workers on Monday vandalised the party office. Party had announced its first list of candidates on April 15. The state is going to vote on May 12 to elect its representatives for the 225 members assembly, The results will be announced on May 15. The Congress has released the first list of 218 candidates, while Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared the second list for the fray.

CM Siddaramaiah is again the chief ministerial candidate and will contest from Chamundeshwari constituency while his son Dr Yatheendra will be in the field from Varuna.

Karnataka Home Minister R Ramalinga Reddy will contest from BTM Layout, while his daughter Sowmya Reddy will contest from Jayanagar.

On the other hand, BJP released its second list of 82 candidates for the elections. The names were finalised by the party’s Central Election Committee headed by party President Amit Shah and has Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda among its members.

The BJP had released the first list of 72 candidates on April 8.
