NEW DELHI: South Africa held off a late charge by Zimbabwe to a 34-run win in the first Twenty20 international against Zimbabwe at Buffalo Park on Tuesday. Ater winning the toss decided to bat in the first Twenty20 international and put modest total of 160 for six.
Legspinner Imran Tahir took 5-23 for South Africa to continue his form from the one-day international series and bowled out the tourists for 126. The damage was done in the first four overs as Tahir, sharing the new ball, took the first three wickets.
He came back later to take two wickets off successive balls to reduce Zimbabwe to 65 for six. Earlier in the one-day international series, South Africa won 3-0 with a clean sweep.
