US man killed in Andaman: Cops retreat after tribe seen armed with bows and arrows

NEW DELHI: A police team which approached North Sentinel Island on Saturday along with tribal welfare department made a second expedition to the North Sentinel Island spotted men from the Sentinelese tribe on the beach where John Allen Chau was last seen, the region’s police chief Dependra Pathak told.

Using binoculars, police officers in a boat about 400 metres from the shore saw armed men on the beach where Chau was last seen, Andaman and Nicobar Islands they stared at us and we were looking at them,” Pathak stated.

Earlier Fishermen who took Chau to North Sentinel — which is one of the Andaman and Nicobar islands in the Bay of Bengal — said they saw the tribe burying the body on the beach. “Our priority is to make sure that the Sentinelese are not to be disturbed in any way said the police chief.
